As you know LIC's Market Plus-I (INVESTMENT BHI PLUS PENSION BHI PLUS) is the most popular product and it has more than 1 crore policyholders in just this scheme. And it deserves a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. The closure of of Market Plus I is necessitated due to new IRDA guidelines effective from 1st September.
The new guidelines issued have the following features:
a) All ULIP pension plans will have an element of compulsory risk cover.
b) All such ULIP pension plans have surrender facility after 3 years in which a maximum of 1/3rd of the fund value can be encashed. The balance 2/3 will be COMPULSORILY used to purchase annuity.
c) TOP UPs will be accepted with commensurate insurance cover upto 125% of TOP UP premium. Further TOP UPs will have a three year waiting period for withdrawal. So, before closing of this scheme start a new policy and get more benefits

§ Surrender Allowed in full after 3 years for policies taken upto 31-08-2010
§ Minimum Investment Rs. 15,000/- a year for regular Monthly - Rs. 1000 ECS
§ Minimum Investment Rs. 30,000/- Single payment Maximum- No Limit
§ Lowest Charges (FMC lowest in industry: 0.8% only)
§ Last chance for SENIOR CITIZEN to earn Higher Returns.
§ Income Tax Benefits - Upto Rs. 1,00,000 under section 80C
